A Visit from Meinl and Angel Shares a Wu Xing Gong

by Max Holmquist October 30, 2019

Meinl Percussion is based in Germany, but they have distribution in the US. Our Meinl representative came from Nashville last week to visit us. We were really pleased and happy that she came to visit us! We've worked with her for a long time and she's great! She helps us out so we can help YOU out!

She was nice enough to bring a Wu Xing gong to show us. Wu Xing Gongs are similar to other Symphonic-style gongs made throughout Europe. They're handcrafted from nickel silver to have a beautiful, deep, clean sound. Here's a video of her playing a 36" Wu Xing Gong:

Wu Xing refers to the Chinese concept that translates to the five major planets, elements, processes, phases, and dimensions of life on earth. It is the shortened form of a longer phrase which translates to "the five types of chi dominating at different times."

These gongs are really fantastic. They're great for percussionists, sure! But they're also perfect for sound therapists, spiritual healers, and any practitioners trying to do work with sound. Add one to your toolkit! Check out our Meinl Wu Xing Gongs (<-- click here)!
