Paiste Symphonic Gongs are works of sonic mastery. Their flat, scraped surface meets a dark rim that flows back from the face creating a unique shape. They are hand-hammered from nickel silver in the European gong-making tradition. They are not tuned but tend to fall within a certain range at a given size.

The lightweight metal, the unique shape, and the scraped face all combine to create an overall sound that is very clean and meditative, with rich, beautiful harmonics that expand over the deep fundamental tone.

"Symphonic" doesn't refer strictly to the orchestral use of the word "symphony," but goes to the root of the word, to the unity of harmonic sounds and the experience of sound in its entirety.
