This gong comes with a traditional mallet.
The 26" Suwukan Gong is a beautiful brass gong. It is traditionally used in Gamelan orchestras from the Indonesian/Malay archipelago. Suwukan gongs, like Kempul gongs, are used as rhythm counters. They are usually played in counts of four.
The Suwukan is a bit deeper than the Kempul, but still higher pitched than the defining gong of a gamelan set, the Gong Ageng. Instead of holding a long resound, Suwukan are muted with the hand or mallet to be but a breath of sound.
