This listing does not include a mallet.
Note: This gong was recently purchased and then returned to us when the customer decided to go in a different direction. The gong itself is in perfect condition, but the original box was damaged in shipping. Because of this, we will be shipping it to you in a different box and are offering it to you at a special discount. The gong in the video below contains a gong with the Tai Loi symbols as an example of the Symphonic Gong at this size.
We recommend purchasing an M7 Paiste Gong Mallet for this gong! You can find them here: Paiste Mallets
Paiste Symphonic Gongs are works of sonic mastery. Their flat, scraped surface meets a dark rim that flows back from the face creating a unique shape. They are hand-hammered from nickel silver in the European gong-making tradition. They are not tuned but tend to fall within a certain range at a given size.
This style comes with the classic Paiste logo at the top of the face. The presence or absence of the logo will not affect the overall sound of the gong. In choosing, it all comes down to the overlap of your aesthetic preference and gong availability.
The lightweight metal, the unique shape, and the scraped face all combine to create an overall sound that is very clean and meditative, with rich, beautiful harmonics that expand over the deep fundamental tone.
"Symphonic" doesn't refer strictly to the orchestral use of the word "symphony," but goes to the root of the word, to the unity of harmonic sounds and the experience of sound in its entirety. These gongs create a symphony of sounds for the listener. They are perfect for musicians, Kundalini yoga practitioners, sound healers, and therapists working with music and tone.
