Kalimbas are metal-tined instruments that originated in southern Africa, where they can be found in countless variations. The Hokema B15 G-Major is meticulously handcrafted from solid American black cherry wood, with a surface treated and polished with natural oils and waxes.
The Dual-Tier Design
Unlike the B17 or B17 Mini, the B15 features a unique dual-tier design with varying tine widths — giving you two distinct playing zones in one instrument.
-
Bottom tines (wider): Designed for playing rich chords and steady accompaniment. Their wider profile produces a resonant, grounded bass and mid-range that acts as the anchor for your music.
-
Top tines (narrower): Optimized for speed and precision — ideal for intricate melodies and soaring lead lines.
Tuning
