We recommend purchasing an M2 Paiste Gong Mallet for this gong! You can find them here: Paiste Mallets
Paiste Symphonic Gongs are works of sonic mastery. Their flat, scraped surface meets a dark rim that flows back from the face creating a unique shape. They are hand-hammered from nickel silver in the European gong-making tradition. They are not tuned but tend to fall within a certain range at a given size.
This style comes with the classic Paiste logo at the top of the face. The presence or absence of the logo will not affect the overall sound of the gong. In choosing, it all comes down to the overlap of your aesthetic preference and gong availability.

Going back decades, Paiste has paid homage to the Chinese gong-making tradition by offering some of their Symphonic gongs with the traditional Chinese Tai Loi symbols, which can be roughly translated to English as "The Bad will depart, the Good shall arrive" or more simply, "Happiness has arrived."

Paiste Bronze Gongs are works of sonic mastery. They are hand-hammered from CuSn8 Bronze- 92% copper and 8% tin - in the European gong-making tradition. Bronze Gongs provide an abundant spectrum of frequencies and harmonics. They are individual, versatile, and spirited.
When the sound of Paiste’s bronze gongs is compared to the same size nickel silver instruments, the bronze ones generally present a lower fundamental note, warmer character, and a more voluminous sound.
Due to the molecular property of bronze, these gongs will change more noticeably over time than their nickel-silver counterparts. The tension release that comes from playing as well as the natural aging of the metal create an evolution of each Paiste Bronze Gong in league with the influence of the gong player.
The design of the Paiste Bronze Gong No. 8, with its concentric, textured ridges is a completely new gong design from Paiste. Playing this gong will be a new exciting adventure for even the most experienced gong player. These gongs maintain a deep, focused fundamental when played at the center but have great potential for finding new sonic layers with all kinds of mallets.
