While the Sansula Basic has a relatively delicate membrane, the Renaissance is fitted with a robust synthetic Remo drum skin. The Basic model has a black rubber tension string around the base, while the Renaissance features a raised wooden rim for added durability and a refined look.

The Renaissance is moisture-resistant and retains its tension under conditions of varying air humidity — so it keeps its wonderful sound whether you're playing indoors, outdoors, or on the road. Most importantly, the Sansula Renaissance has inherited the indescribable sonic character of the original Sansula.

The A-minor tuning with B and F allows beautiful melodies to emerge almost by themselves — there is no wrong note, all tones work harmonically together. A great instrument for all age groups.

Every tuning contains numerous musical possibilities. The scope ranges from dreamy and slow, to bluesy-cool, to powerful and virtuosic — covering genres from Folk, Singer/Songwriter, Celtic Pop, and Bluegrass.

The 18 pieces in this book demonstrate how to use the Kalimba both as an accompanying instrument and as the lead melody instrument. Each piece is available as a play-along version at slow tempo, plus a full band recording at original tempo.
