Paiste Bronze Gongs are works of sonic mastery. They are hand-hammered from CuSn8 Bronze- 92% copper and 8% tin - in the European gong-making tradition. Bronze Gongs provide an abundant spectrum of frequencies and harmonics. They are individual, versatile, and spirited.
When the sound of Paiste’s bronze gongs is compared to the same size nickel silver instruments, the bronze ones generally present a lower fundamental note, warmer character, and a more voluminous sound.
Due to the molecular property of bronze, these gongs will change more noticeably over time than their nickel-silver counterparts. The tension release that comes from playing as well as the natural aging of the metal create an evolution of each Paiste Bronze Gong in league with the influence of the gong player.
The Paiste Bronze Gong No. 2 is heavily hammered in the center and reminds one of the Paiste Sound Creation Water Gong from many years ago; this gong hearkens us back to that era. The large center provides deep wondrous tones, while playing more towards the rim, we find higher pitches that build to a controlled wash.

I received the Paiste 0 gong first and it's a rich deep sound with splashing easily achieved by striking the outer 2 rings. All the overtones are there with great clarity, this is now one of my most favorite gongs. And the size makes it very easy to travel with. The Paiste 2 was another story. It took me a minute to find this gongs sound. It doesn't give up it's fundamental easily you have to work and find this gongs center, but when you do, this gong is a mystical treasure house. Large heavy mallets bring out a rich fundamental surrounded by overtones, it's easy to crash but slow coaxing brings out a myriad of overtones bordering on the surreal. These two gongs contain a sound world that is really unsurpassed
