Kolberg Percussion in Germany is a symphonic and orchestral think tank started by Bernhard Kolberg. For 12 years he played as a percussionist in a symphony. Noticing the lack of serviceable percussion accessories available, he began producing sticks and mallets. At the same time he was apprenticed to the well-known Zurich master drum builder Eugen Giannini, learning what was necessary to found his own company for percussion instrument-building in 1968.
With the cooperation of musicians, composers, planners, and architects, Kolberg has created practical solutions for symphonic and orchestral community. What was once a small workshop has expanded into large production workshops, exhibition rooms, and even a percussion museum.
