Rainsticks

Rain! What is it? When water vapor (H2O in a gaseous state) rises in the atmosphere, it is naturally cooled by the cooler air in the upper atmosphere. As it cools, it condenses back into liquid form. As these raindrops form, they begin to fall back through the atmosphere, eventually reaching the ground as precipitation.

Close your eyes, imagine the sound of rain outside your window on the pavement, imagine the smell of nitrogen released in the atmosphere. Ahh, pure relaxation. If only this could be recreated by a musical instrument! WELL IT CAN! Rainsticks have been around for centuries, developed by the Mapuche people of South America. They believed it could call forth rainstorms in times of drought!
