The word "reiki" is compiled of two Japanese words: "rei"which means god's wisdom or merely indicates a higher power and "ki" meaning life force energy. The word translates to "spiritually guided life force energy".
Reiki is an energy healing technique from Japan focused on reducing stress and promoting healing. A practitioner lays their hands on specific points on the body in order to connect with the life force energy located within the body.
This energy is integral to your physical and mental state; if it is low the body is much more likely to get sick or stressed, whereas if it is high one has a much higher capability of being happy and healthy. The practice itself gives one a feeling of glowing radiance and treats the emotions, mind, spirit, and over all well being of the individual. Reiki is a spiritual practice but not a religion. The fact that it lacks religious parameters makes Reiki more easily translatable across cultures and allows it to continue to spread peace and harmony throughout the world.
